Right, because I am sad and because I loved Season 4 of Lucifer so much...

A post-finale [important! spoilers!] domestic fic. Amenadiel/Linda, with guest appearances by almost everyone else left on this plane of existence. 1810 words.

"So when are you going to tell Amenadiel you're in love with him again?" Maze asks, around a mouthful of apple.

"Gold and Silver Scattered in Indigo."

Well, it's been a bit of a while, hasn't it. Work, and trying to get house tasks organized (for other people to do, for real), and general exhaustion has kept me from posting. But anyway! 12 things on the twelfth!

1) My neighbor power-washed the patio and concrete driveway bits in my backyard this past week. It's slightly horrifying to realize just how dirty and slimy they were.... but it's lovely now.
2) This is my good neighbor, as opposed to the new neighbors who literally have multiple signs about how they are licensed gun-owners. Not an invitation to knock on their door, right?
3) Oh, also taking my time this week, LUCIFER SEASON 4 OMG OMG OMG. On Netflix.
4) The thing about Lucifer is that I love every regular cast member, with the possible exception of Detective Dan whom I understand and sympathize with and yet he really IS a bit of a douche. Still, I love them. I like the way the show switches up scene-partners now and then, too, because all of these people are awesome and all of them should interact with each other.
5) Amenadiel is my sweet cinnamon roll darling, by the way. And I ship him and Dr Linda! Even beyond the plot-thing of Season 4!
6) What's also delicious about Lucifer is that they are so good with lightening the mood right before they hit the viewer with all the feels. To think about Episode 10 (The Finale), for example -- how did we go from dance sequence to That Ending? And yet it worked for me on every level.
7) Lastly, this show -- in a different way from The Good Place or Brooklyn Nine-Nine -- is an exploration of what it means to be a good person, and I find that theme so appealing.
8) Otherwise, I have a few days of vacation coming up, and I am doing a bit of traveling to West Texas, as one does. I haven't been to my holy place for almost a decade, and it's time.
9) Packing is sort of difficult, however, because I will be doing a bit of hiking but also taking in art and eating and sitting outside breathing in the desert. Hiking boots and shirt-dresses, maybe?
10) Master Danger will not be pleased for my absence, but I'll otherwise be here for the duration.
11) Except that I am going to a Nearby City in August to HEAR LYLE LOVETT AND THE LARGE BAND. As has been discussed before, he is pretty much my ideal man, so... YAY.
12) Hugs and joys to you all.

It's been an odd few weeks, because I can feel the tug of the Black Dog even when nothing (beyond crazy work demands and an inability to move forward) is actually wrong. But I am taking a few proactive measures:

1) Doing regular Pilates is a joy to me. I am a firm believer in an individual choosing the kind(s) of movements she enjoys, because otherwise exercise can be a chore, easily abandoned. Going to the new Pilates studio and working on strength, flexibility, and a bit of balance is something that makes me happy.

Even though I apparently have minimal core strength, gaah.

2) It's the perfect time in the subtropics to walk to work. Wheee!

3) Thinking about London is happy-making always. (Thinking about Brexit, less so. I am so sorry, y'all across the pond.)

4) I am taking two items of clothing to the seamstress today -- one for hem repair, the other for button replacement. I absolutely believe in taking care of one's possessions instead of discarding: the button-replacement item is a fifteen-year-old silk blazer, and it will be happy-making to be able to wear it again after the dry cleaners ruined all the buttons some months ago.

5) Half a page of the original project last night.

Two three-sentence ficlets on the topic of Fighting the Black Dog:

Mycroft/Anthea )

Lucifer/Chloe )

Happy middle of the week!

1) Master Danger had a v hard time with the anesthesia associated with his dental cleaning, and he has been letting me know about it for the past five days. Snappish? Oh, that's the least of it.

2) Warm day in advance of v.v. cold air; the windows are open to the sun, and I've dusted and swept and cleaned the bathrooms, la la la, and burned my Bridie Hall candles just long enough to make the house smell divine. Now I just have three stacks of clutter to winnow -- possibly after a nap.

3) I am not watching the Marie Kondo Netflix show, but I read the book some years ago (and exchanged it at the used-book store because it didn't bring me joy). At that point, however, I gleaned enough to fold my T-shirt drawers in manner Kondo, and that is a good thing.

4) I am so tired I cannot even. Oh dear.

5) The clothes-fast is on its second week. To be fair, the shirt dress isn't coming until Tuesday, but it was purchased two weeks ago, so there we are. Clothes-fast ahoy!

And here are three three-sentence fics on the subject of tidying:

Indy/Marion post-Crystal Skull, Giles/Anya I&A, Lucifer and Amenadiel (Season 3-ish) )

Hugs and more joy to all, whether you're tidying or not.

Last night was the broadcast of what seems likely to be the last episodes of Lucifer. (#SaveLucifer, somebody, COME ON NOW.)

I have loved Lucifer so much -- for its wit, its LA setting (especially in Season 3 when they filmed there), its diverse and lovingly drawn characters, its investment in story for ALL of these characters, for its strong women, for its great performers from top to bottom of the call sheet, for its willingness to play even while it's committed to deeply emotional storylines as well. Last night's final episode (directed by Kevin Alejandro aka Detective Dan, who gave us a bloody beautiful mis-en-scene) was a fanfic-like AU where God, voiced by Neil Gaiman, changed one thing and then watched the butterfly effect take place. It was ficcish, and delicious, and smart as can be.

And it was nice to see the return of Charlotte Richards in the AU *cough**spoilers*. I cannot tell you how much I've enjoyed Tricia Helfer's work as Charlotte Richards this season, her journey and *spoilers*. But all along I've kept thinking about another powerful female attorney in an LA series I adored, and I decided to write a teeny-tiny crossover. My Angel the Series OTP gets a shoutout too.

So: Shadow Day, set after 3.22 "All Hands on Decker" and before 3.23 for obvious reasons. Charlotte makes herself remember a career day shadowing one Lilah Morgan. She won't forget again.

Happy middle of your week!

This week's good things:

*Lucifer was back. I love that show so much. I enjoy all the characters, who have depth and surprises and who interact so fascinatingly in different combinations. Love the great female characters in particular, and love the brother-angels to an unhealthy degree. :)

*Wore a pair of Katharine-Hepburn-stylee wide-legged silk trousers one day, which weren't particularly flattering but made me happy anyway.

*Celebrating an anniversary with Master Danger, who as a treat got to take a car ride today. (He loves 'bye bye car,' for some reason.)

*And the walls in the renovation space have FINALLY been mudded, sanded, and primed, ready for paint next week! HUZZAH.

What are you thankful for these days?
