I realize that I haven't posted in a while, so 5 Quick Things:

1) Next Friday, Dec 13 -- Lyle Lovett and Elvis Costello, in an online conversation plus songs. Many of you might remember that these two gentlemen are on my short list of Favorite Artists, and I am positively giddy with excitement.
2) I have no more money in my budget this month/hell-year, but Victoria Beckham just dropped a mini-collection with Reebok, including trainers that I am YEARNING FOR. Do I need them? No. But YEARNING.
3) Miss Adventure has been so very adolescent these past few days, and although we were supposed to go to obedience class this morning, even a 1.5-mile walk beforehand had not taken the edge off her bratty attitude. So we didn't go. Ah well.
4) Have acquired a bottle of Chapel Down classic brut sparkling wine. Am saving it for Crimbo, I think... My upcoming birthday will be celebrated with Perrier-Jouet. (Or should I shift this and drink Chapel Down for my birthday? DECISIONS.)
5) Currently drinking a cold bottle of Topo Chico sparkling water, however, so there we are.

Am contemplating, too, a short mini-fic for my upcoming birthday, but I just don't have any inspiration. Will keep contemplating.

Hugs to all, and a lovely week ahead.

Thank God it's Friday. Sigh.

*I am beginning to feel rather hemmed in, but since the Orange Satan visited nearby recently, I am now worried about venturing out, even masked. Will suck it up tomorrow for a quick trip downtown, but otherwise...

*Also, my allergies yikes.

*But Miss Adventure and I are now taking slightly longer walks in the morning, averaging a mile. Today it was a mile and a half. Does it wear her out at all? Oh no. OH NO.

*Also, I've started watching The Wine Show Series Two (on Hulu in the US, Amazon in the UK). I tried Season One, but couldn't get into it (I like Matthew Rhys but I didn't like him as presenter somehow). Series Two has Rhys staying in NYC [edited: London; NYC for Series Three] and Matthew Goode's partner in crime is now James Purefoy. Welp. Goode and Purefoy work for me. A lot a lot a lot.

*In fact, in Ep 2 of Series Two, Messieurs Goode and Purefoy (for reasons of the show) stumble out into the French morning, draped only in bedsheets 'round their lower limbs, and I might have exclaimed aloud, "OMFG, tag your porn!"

*Okay. I DID say that aloud. Miss Adventure rolled a weary eye at me and stretched out further on the top of the loveseat.

*Here, have a look at the Series 3 trailer, with a great song to accompany the stunning visuals.

There we go -- hugs, and have a great weekend! :)

At random moments through the day today -- exhausted by work and horrified by U.S. politics -- I thought of this old icon, which expressed my feelings exactly.

Also expressive of my feelings -- internal screaming. But anyway.

WHATEVER, evil GOP politicians. I am not a vengeance demon, nor do I play one on TV, but right about now I'm thinking that electoral vengeance will definitely be A Thing.

So let's also think of joys:

*rain, a fierce short storm, and the promise of a little more
*wearing my old, battered, once-white Converse sneakers today
*Champagne with a good friend downtown, right before the storm
*scarlet-flowered sage, spreading in its little bed
*the other morning, a hawk on a chain-link fence, turning its head to stare at me and Master Danger as we walked by
*rewatching "The Husbands of River Song" because Twelve/River forevah
*less than a fortnight til England!

Cheers, and better days.

This has been a week of heat, rejections, and stumbles, but hey ho, we carry on.

What are good things to celebrate?

*gardenias! Four gardenia blooms on my plant!

*a great bottle of Benziger Frank Johnson Vineyard Sauv Blanc, opened with Freixenet to celebrate her birthday

*last night's ep of Doctor Who, which was just stone-cold delightful. Also, Peter Capaldi in high collar, cravat, and Regency brocade -- in the words of Bill, "GET IN!"

*payday

*Independent Bookstore Day yesterday, and getting two books for my dad at the local shop.

*blocking out time for a nap today

May you, even in sad or hard times, find glimpses of joy this week.
