Even though it is incredibly hot in the subtropics right now, I have been requested to write a ficlet with the prompts of "snow" and/or "power outage."

I don't think this is quite as festive as was intended, but nevertheless, Lord Peter and Harriet, some years after their marriage --

apologies to T.S. Eliot )

Happy days to all, and happy birthday to ALH!

So, anyway, here we are. My December London trip is basically canceled, and my fall schedule is already bizarre, and it's still bloody summer and will be for two months, and the US of A is in crisis, so....

Let's talk about clothes. Also, shoes. :)

I managed to make seven weeks without real clothes or shoes purchases, which for me is truly impressive. (My annual budget was part of that restraint: I wanted to save something for fall/winter. I'm v much hoping Carel Paris comes out with a Kina model --low heeled, multi-strapped Mary Janes, chic as you like -- in brown or burgundy, but even if they do, they're spendy.) I also am thinking about work-from-home Zoom-friendly attire as well, since online meetings will be instituted as a big part of work duties.

So I've gone through my closet asking what one or two items I could use to freshen my wardrobe. (I, um, have a lot of properly curated clothes. I mean, a lot.) I will be haunting ThredUp for a new black or navy jacket, but it has to be perfect and it's not necessary right now. Thus, I realize that my only opening is for a pink shirt.

(Note: I like tailored, constructed clothes.)

Have I bought the perfect pinky-lavender oversized shirt to wear with narrow trousers or pencil skirts and low heels or trainers? Why, yes. Yes, I have. Thanks, Ann Mashburn.

I also have bought new workout shoes, thanks to accidentally stepping in dog-poop in the dark on Wednesday night, but these are less exciting. Thanks, Miss Adventure. ;)

Three-sentence fic on the subject of clothes:

Happy weekend to all.

Whew, I'm ready for some good news. I don't have any, but I'm ready for it.

Okay, no, here's a brief list of things I am grateful for today:
*Miss Adventure has almost conquered the Down command.
*Highgrove Organic Earl Grey tea was my iced tea of choice.
*Only sore a little bit from yesterday's KILLER workout class, led by my fave instructor who's only a month out from giving birth.
*Ginger Snaps.
*A rare, gorgeous morning with little humidity, which is unheard of in June.
*The employment protection offered to U.S. LGBTQ folk in Monday's Supreme Court ruling -- which applies to friends and family alike.

But otherwise, this year is ripe for rebooting. Let's start now!

[looks at emails, calendar, list of tasks]

Maybe after a nap?

Two three-sentence fics on the subject of starting again:

Lord Peter/Harriet )

Happy middle of the week!

1) It has been raining all day here in the subtropics and is likely to rain until this evening.

2) Master Danger, obstinate and bad-moody, decided that his morning walk would be at half-speed despite my best efforts to hurry him along. He was soaked. My arm which held the leash (as opposed to my arm holding the umbrella) was soaked. He gave not the slightest fuck.

3) But I was sporting my fave Hunter rainboots, so I had that going for me.

4) I have to work this afternoon, or I would watch a rainy-day movie. (I can't think what a rainy-day movie would be, though....)

5) Three three-sentence ficlets on the topic of rain

Lord Peter/Harriet )

Giles/Anya in the Magic Box, early Season Six AU )

Mycroft/Anthea )

Happy start to your week, with or without rain!

My days are stressed, and I am exhausted and dispirited. Never mind.

Three drabbles! On the subject of flowers, because why not.

Series I'd prefer to forget: Buffy/Spike, Giles/Anya )

May your Sunday be full of flowers!
