usedtobeljs: (Dame Diana Rigg)

This morning it was announced that Dame Diana Rigg passed away at the age of 82.

Diana Rigg has been an icon for me for years -- starting with Emma Peel, yes, but going beyond that. I will always be disappointed that I didn't get to see her on stage (and that I somehow missed seeing her and Mark Gatiss in Almodovar's All About My Mother at the Old Vic). But I think of her TV work in particular -- my deep and abiding love for her Mrs Bradley Mysteries probably the first that comes to mind.

Here's the Guardian's "life in pictures".

Dame Diana was elegant, smart as hell, acerbic, and yet somehow always grounded. She'll always be someone I look up to.

I was going to write a short Steed and Mrs Peel ficlet to honor her, but honestly I'm too tired and sad. Maybe for my birthday.

Anyway, rest in peace and power, Dame Diana.

My husband has been a huge Diana Rigg fan since he was about 8 and imprinted on Emma Peel. He is very sad too but was lucky enough to see her on stage, though I never have. Strangely we have never seen the Mrs Bradley Mysteries so I shall have to look those out. We were looking forward to seeing her as Mrs Pumphrey in the new version of All Creatures Great and Small (her first episode was shown this week) but that will be tinged with sadness now. An amazing woman to the end

Dame Diana Rigg was awesome. I remember watchingThe Avengers as a kid, and wanting to grow up to be like her.

With all the fire news, I missed this until now...I’ve always adored her. What a loss...

Wasn't she something? Thanks for the link.

Don't you have some Peel\Steed fic out there? I'd love to reread.

I thought I had the Mrs. Bradley Mysteries, but apparently not, and Britbox only has the first episode. I am hoping for the rest to show up. I've seen all the episodes multiple times, but I wanted them this week.

I shall miss her light.

Yeah, it's weird. When I go to the show, it says one season, and if I click on episodes, there's the first one, but no others. Annoying.

I think it'll be awhile for breathable air.
