1) Went to NYC to see Betrayal (twice) and old friends.
2) The Broadway production of Betrayal: small changes (from London), fascinating and affecting performances. Hiddleston in particular really sat in the Pinter silences on the Saturday matinee, and it was amazing.
3) I cried.
4) Also, can we just say this cast is RIDICULOUSLY good-looking?
5) Enjoyed a couple of exhibitions at the FIT Museum as well. An Isaac Mizrahi tartan evening gown from 1990 was particularly cheery-making.
6) But travel is so enervating. I never quite recovered from a flight so turbulent that we didn't have beverage service.
7) Speaking of recovery, Master Danger is ailing. It's age and achy back legs.
8) But today he strolled around the backyard happy as a goddamn lark, and that's something.
9) Also, I am uncomfortable because I ate too much for dinner tonight.
10) This is because yesterday I didn't have time to eat much (and also had evening workout class, good God, so hard).
11) Let's see -- also today I did a quick stringing of solar Christmas lights in the front yard azaleas.
12) They're blinking in the perfect balance of tastefulness and gaudiness right now.
13) I will decorate for the holidays this weekend, I think.
14) I don't really celebrate the holidays much, as my friends are usually gone and my family is far away.
15) But it's nice to have a bit of tinsel when one watches White Christmas, as one does.
16) Am trying to write but am also swamped at work for the moment.
17) Sigh.
18) If you would like me to write you a drabble or 3-sentence fic with characters you know I love, however, I would be happy to do so.
19) And a happy rest of the week to you!

Date: 2019-11-20 10:12 am (UTC)As someone also suffering from an achy leg (though not a back one) I feel for Master Danger. I’m off to Pilates to try and cure my bad knee but I don’t think Master Danger would take to that. I hope he has many more happy as a lark days.
Many hugs.

Date: 2019-11-20 01:05 pm (UTC)It was fascinating seeing the differences between the London production of Betrayal and the transfer -- they'd shifted music around and rethought the final tableau. But the performances were still stellar.
(I just realized I also didn't say that last week I saw the NT Live screening of Hansard.)
Are you seeing any theatre this season? I will be in London in mid-December and am going to see the new Gaiman adaptation at the National, Paterson Joseph in Christmas Carol at the Old Vic, and James McAvoy in the new adaptation of Cyrano....
Hugs hugs!

Date: 2019-11-20 04:52 pm (UTC)Did you enjoy Hansard? I haven’t seen it but my friend T thought the theatre was too big for it so it might have worked better filmed.
My achy leg might well be better if I could just lose some weight!
Enjoy London theatre :)

Date: 2019-11-21 12:51 am (UTC)Hansard's script was a bit thin, I felt, but Jennings and Lindsey Duncan were masterly and bloody heartbreaking. I really enjoyed it.
(By the way -- if you and J are going to the Ivy Tower Bridge before you head off to Narnia, we will be at the same place. My birthday dinner with Paratti and other family and friends is happening there on Election Night.)

Date: 2019-11-21 11:09 am (UTC)I have accidentally booked ourselves a very busy Election Day which I am rather pleased about as we will be out for most of the day and therefore unavailable to answer the door to canvassers in our rather marginal constituency :)
The Watsons was great fun and very popular so I wouldn't be surprised if you got the chance to see it at some point.

After the war, he took her to Paris for their anniversary.
With children safely at home with Nanny, they lover-like walked through streets which had been marked by bombs, soldiers' boots, grievous loss, and she couldn't help but feel the sting.
Later, though, when he kissed her in the middle of the Pont des Arts as the moon and the Parisian lights beamed down on them, she let sadness flow away with the Seine.
