usedtobeljsOppressive heat for the next few weeks here in the subtropics, but the September light is changing and telling me that this season too will pass. (Again: not a fan of summer.)
Due to my clothes budget being strained during the Lockdown Buy-all-the-things period, I am not buying much for fall. I'll replace a black turtleneck sweater in the next few weeks, but my only real fall purchase so far has been a midi-length denim skirt from Boden, long and swingy at the hem and a perfect 1970s vibe. It's going to look *great* with riding boots.
(Disclosure: I bought an American-khaki-coloured viscose midi-skirt from Boden two and a half months ago, and it started this whole jam. I love it.)
I am deep into that 70s vibe all the way around, actually. I wonder if the uncertainties of the 1970s are speaking subconsciously to my own anxieties now. In any event, my current vibe --
Does it look like Yves St Laurent designed it during his heyday? (Does it have a hint of Loulou de la Falaise?) Then yes.
Does it have a little swing and sass, while still being covered up? (See this outfit from La Beckham's Autumn Winter 2020 show.) Then yes.
Does it feel like I should either be listening to Carly Simon and Joni Mitchell OR 70s funk? Then yes. (Also, I am listening to a lot of Simon, Mitchell, and 70s funk. Paul Weller's new album, too, which marries a bit of electronica to 70s rock.)
Rich colours? Yes please.
And it's time to move into riding boots, heat be damned. (Because I am still working form home three or four days a week, I find that I am also outside in the backyard every couple of hours, thanks to Miss Adventure. My beloved kitten heels are sub-optimal for these days. Riding boots, or flat ankle boots? Practical and my vibe.)
