It's Saturday, yes? [checks calendar] Yes.

So this morning I arose lark-like at 6:10 because Miss Adventure needed to go out. (Fair enough!) Since then I have 1) done a 45-minute workout of light aerobics, barre, and Pilates, 2) given Miss Adventure a bath and done her topical fleas-etc treatment, 3) showered and dressed, 4) did a load of my own laundry, 5) am doing a load of Miss Adventure's bedding etc; 6) orange-oiled my kitchen island and table (both butcher-block), 7) dusted the two main living areas, and 8) swept my bedroom and laundry room.

Honestly, I'm ready to stop now. (But I have to check work email in a few minutes.)

So, let's do 10 More Good Things:
1) My youngest brother is recovering from a weird and nasty infection. (Not Covid-19.)
2) Miss Adventure has been tolerating her leash time in the front yard quite well, and we're about ready to progress to the park for walks.
3) Have received but not yet read Square Haunting, by Francesca Wade, a look at 5 women writers who lived in Bedford Square between the world wars. One of the writers is Dorothy Sayers!
4) Am rereading mid-20th-century writer Elizabeth Goudge's Eliot trilogy, which has been comfort reading for years for me. I'm starting with The Bird in the Tree, the first and least favorite of the three -- the others are Pilgrim's Inn and The Heart of the Family. One of the interesting features of these books is the quotidian reality of rationing post WWII; somehow that feels relevant.
5) Music I've been listening to: some of my old mix-CDs, Paul Weller, Tori Amos, Kate Bush, Carly Simon, the Style Council, and Christian Kane.
6) It has been just cool enough that I can still bake some mornings. Yesterday: oatmeal-cranberry cookies.
7) My grocery store has been stocking 4-packs of Topo Chico mineral water! Joy, joy, joy.
8) I am wearing my awesome new shirt from Ann Mashburn again. Liberty-print for the win.
9) Also have ordered and am awaiting a Marfa ballcap to go into rotation with my old Banana Republic blue straw hat and my straw Stetson, to cover quarantine hair.
10) The best for last -- only two more weeks and I am DONE with a massive work responsibility which has been exhausting me for several years! HOT DAMN.

What good things are you finding in this terrible time? I hope it's more than 10.
