I totally understand! Also, Twelve had a real character arc, changing from darker, conflicted Doctor to (as one person I've seen put it) punk-rock professor/grandpa; you might not be in the mood for early Twelve. And I also love "The Husbands of River Song" to the depths of my being, so Twelve/River is always on my mind. :)

I liked the Tardis team in this series opener, but because I liked Grace more than the others, her loss left a sour taste in my mouth as well.
