5 Things, Post #2
Jan. 6th, 2019 12:51 pmAs I wait for my clothes-dryer to finish, let me write down 5 Things.
1) Who's your favorite 20th-century fashion designer? (One not working now, so no Ralph Lauren or Karl Lagerfeld -- not that I particularly like Lagerfeld.) Mine: probably Yves St Laurent. Second: Coco Chanel, despite her Nazi sympathies. Third: Christian Dior. Fourth: ugh, I don't know, maybe Jean Muir. Fifth: I love 80s Vivienne Westwood. Sixth: Bill Blass had some amazing clothes. Seventh: Carolina Herrera. Eighth: an English maker of women's suits, circa 1930s, to be named later. Or poss. Norman Hartnell. Edited to add: Ugh, how could I have forgotten Givenchy. Um, Put him eighth and move the current eighth to ninth.
2) Anyhoo, so I am really looking forward to this exhibition on Dior at the V&A.
3) When I visited Chatsworth House for the Chatsworth Style exhibition in 2017, I literally gasped at one of Nancy Mitford's New Look Dior suits. (Her waist was SO TINY.) On the other hand, whalebone corsetry is not a thing I would approve, so there we are.
4) I spent some of yesterday reading Cormoran Strike/Robin Ellacott fanfic. I need to watch the TV episodes, don't I. (Mmmm. Tom Burke.)
5) WE STILL DO NOT HAVE CASTING FOR THE OTHER CHARACTERS IN BETRAYAL LESS THAN TWO MONTHS BEFORE FIRST PREVIEW OMG THIS IS GIVING ME ANXIETY. I realize this is silly, but nevertheless OMG.
Hugs and a happy start to your week!
